1. THEY ARE FREE (Free is my FAVORITE). Not really anything else to elaborate on here.
2. THEY HAVE BOOKS Next to FREE, BOOKS are my favorite. I grew up overseas and spent my childhood reading and NOT watching TV. I became a voracious reader at a very early age. It is one of the things I am most grateful for in my life--my love of reading. My Mother in law never read (she obviously comes from a different era where Moms wore pearls and cooked and cleaned--all the while looking as polished as the silverware they polished). I introduced her to reading several years ago with some books that I really enjoyed and felt she would too. I guess I kind of formed a "Book Club" of sorts with her. To this day, she still tells me every time we talk (which is at least once a week) how much she appreciates me sharing my love and getting her to read. It's the best gift I could ever imagine giving someone and I am equally blessed by having given it to her. I also taught my children pretty much from birth to read and how much of a pure pleasure it is. It's basically an escape from life. Everybody needs that, right?
3. THEY ARE PRETTY Now, you may be saying, well ALL libraries aren't pretty. Uhm, yes they are! In my world they are anyway. Everywhere I travel, I always have the city or town library at the top of my list of places to go. I love taking pictures of them, walking in them, exploring their nooks and crannies, everything! It doesn't matter if it is a huge Library in a big city or a small one in the country. I LOVE them ALL! To prove my point, I will insert a few pictures of some of the libraries I have been to in recent years. Enjoy the visual vacation:
