Before I get going on this post, I need to REMIND everyone that one of my purposes is to get you to see things differently.  I want to change your perspective, take BAD words and turn them into GOOD, and just make the World a Brighter Place.  With that being said, I don't drink Beer, Booze, or whatever else the "B" in BYOB is.  I don't think there is anything wrong with drinking alcohol, I just don't like the taste and my body doesn't like its effects.  Therefore, I don't drink it.  Don't judge me and I won't judge you.

3 #NEW WAYS TO KICK IT B.Y.O.B. STYLE!

1.  Bring Your Own BOOK.  I love Libraries.  I also love reading.  If you haven't been to your local Library in awhile, why not SPRING on over and check em out? (Did you catch the whole "check them out" as in check out a BOOK reference????)  Libraries are not only FREE stores with Books, they also have Music CD's and Movie DVD's.  You can check out music and movies for a week at a time for NO CHARGE!  If that's not worth celebrating, I don't know what is!  You can take this Party Style and get as creative as you want.  Start your own Book Club.  Do it in a nontraditional way.  Think outside the box and maybe have a Book Lunch where you get together with a few friends and read aloud from a great book you are enjoying.  Have a time of discussion at the end over dessert.  To keep with the "B" theme, you can even call this one a BOOK BASH!

If you can't bear the thought of no BEER in your BYOB party, read a book about Beer! (see first book on left)
2.  Bring Your Own BLANKET.  Since it is officially Spring, grab a blanket, pack a picnic lunch and head to the park.  There is no better Party than a PLEASANT PARK PARTY!  If you want to get REAL CRAZY, bring your BOOK to this Party and make it a BOOK BLANKET BINGO BASH!  Are you starting to see where I am going with my Party Train?

3.  The final new BYOB perspective is my favorite.  It's Bring Your Own BIKE.  This is the perfect time to get your bicycle out of the garage (or go and buy one, rent one, or borrow one) and head for the hills!  You don't have to head for the actual hills (I hear you saying that is TOO much work.)  You can head for a nice, level street or a park with some hills and some flat terrain.  I live in San Antonio and we have AWESOME bike trails.  Paved and unpaved, for mountain bikes or cruisers.  We also have a great Rental Bike System downtown called B cycle.  I have used it and I LOVE IT.  You can ride from one station to the next and not have to pay extra usage fees.  Check out their website at San Antonio B Cycle for all the details.  Buying a day pass or an annual pass is the best deal.  There is nothing better than riding along the Riverwalk during the morning when there is hardly anyone on it (the Museum Reach area).  If you don't happen to live in San Antonio, they are also located in many other cities.  You can see where at their National Website.  Because this type of BYOB Party is my favorite, it deserves LOTS of pictures!  Also, I am calling it a Pedal Pushing Party!  That's right, I said it.  You can be an over achiever for this one and actually wear PEDAL PUSHERS to it.

That's me in Toronto on my last day there during a Travel Media Conference in June. Later, I would FLY OVER THE HANDLE (as opposed to Elphaba flying OFF the handle in WICKED).

Doo Da Doo Da Doo Da, just riding along, nice and easy in Toronto before the FLYOVER!

A few minutes before I started #poundingthepavement LITERALLY!
So, if you want to read the full story of my FLYING OVER THE HANDLE adventure, click HERE.  It is fairly long as I wrote it before I started shortening my blog posts.  It is worth the read though as I am living proof that you should get back on the bike right away and not let a crash burn your biking future!  Before I go, I want to share some local San Antonio pics I have taken on Bike Trips and Trails throughout our city.  Most of them were taken along areas of the Leon Creek Greenway and downtown on the Riverwalk.
There is just something about a bike.  I can just see one and get the feeling of riding it.  I don't even have to actually get on it to reap the benefits of its existence.  I have taken pictures of many bikes just parked and I get happy just looking at them.  Here are a couple examples:

Another Hotel Del Coronado favorite. This one deserved a SOLO shot!

My all time Favorite Bike Picture. I took this one in Capri in October of 2008. I am transported back to this street every time I look at it.
Well, now that I have loaded my favorite bike picture, all I want to do is go to Italy and ride a bike!  I am more than ready for Party #3 of the Pedal Pushing Variety.

Do you see how easy it is to change the way you look at things?  I bet you aren't thinking about Beer right now.  (Well, NOW you are---Sorry).

Anyway, it's Friday and it's Spring.  You need to have a Party, Throw a Party or just BE THE PARTY and BYOB!  I guarantee you this: REAL Rock Stars read books, lay on blankets in the park AND ride bikes! Don't just use the examples I gave you.  Please let your own creative juices flow and share with me how you are going to Party like a Rock Star this weekend!  Be Safe, Have Fun and let's spring (and NOT fly) into Spring!
