Today is Friday and I am calling it #FREESPEECHFRIDAY. I came up with the idea last month at the Trail of Lights Display in Austin. As Hubby and I were walking back to our car, I passed a sign that struck me as TOO FUNNY. I had to take a picture so I could use it at a later time (I was already thinking of a blog post that would go with it)
"WOW, this is what our World has come to. We now have to step into a designated/controlled area in order to speak Freely. You can no longer speak freely unless you are in the proper ZONE".
Yep--this is how my brain works people! So, I knew I would write about this sign sometime in the future. The fact that it was at the end of a Christmas Display of Lights-----OOOPS---STOP myself----
HOLIDAY light display (Can't say Christmas anymore--might OFFEND someone).
The fact that this FREE SPEECH ZONE sign was at the end of a display that no longer was able to use a certain word in its name....is anybody else picking up on the irony here??????? Or is it just me??
Anyway, I'm getting wound up and off track so I will attempt to stay on the road and not lose you (and my train of thought). Basically, I don't appreciate "them", "society", etc. telling me I can't say Happy Birthday to my BOSS on his Birthday. So, I decided to boycott the PC gang (PC= Politically Correct) and I'm just gonna start saying Merry Christmas all year long!
"They" aren't the Boss of ME! HE is :-)
Yesterday was #ThankfulThursday in my World. I started changing the nicknames of the days of the week because I don't like some of the names out there (Hump Day being #1--I changed it to #WorshipWednesday instead--much better image in my head).
Since it was Thursday, I wanted to show my appreciation and Thank a local company. I decided to do something specific and spread some Love and Joy. These 2 things (and let's go ahead and throw "PEACE" in the mix too), should be celebrated EVERY DAY! I had some Christmas baking candies that I didn't use this year and knew they wouldn't be good if I waited till NEXT Christmas to use them. I am WAY too frugal to let them go to waste. So, I put on my creative thinking cap and figured I'd make Christmas Brownies and Celebrate MY BOSS's Birthday! If the PC Patrol is going to take away his day, I'm gonna replace it with 364 MORE days!
HA (I'll show them)
I wrote a little note, baked some brownies, and glued the candies on with some cream cheese frosting. Here is the finished product:
And they were thankful for the sweets (and find a way to rhyme it somehow).
I'm not sure if there's a moral to this story today or not. If there is, it is probably to disobey signs that try and quiet you. If you feel in your heart that something is right, SPEAK IT. If you feel something is wrong, SAY SO. Don't let society rule your head or your voice. Let your heart speak for you. If you don't stand up for yourself (or your fellow humans), who else will? Don't wait till you see a sign that says "Free Speech Zone" to Speak Freely. It is your right and it is your privilege. Don't let it go to waste.
(If you want to read my first #ThankfulThursday Post, you can click here. It includes a little music video I made set to 2 great songs. The first one is a little slow, the second one will get you on your feet.) Have a Fantastic Friday Everyone! Now go out and BLESS someone!
