2 = The second month of the year- February
0 = Nothing
14 = The 14th day of the second month- Valentines Day (aka The Day of LOVE)
When you add them up (using MY math), you get THE YEAR OF LOVE! I know, it doesn't make sense. Thats the BEST part. If you are an analytical person, you possibly get the 2 and the 14 reference. The Zero is where you get lost. It doesn't mean anything, right? Or does it mean EVERYTHING?
Hmmmmmmm. I am NOT analytical and I am starting to use that side of my brain to follow myself right now! I am also NOT good at Math. Well, normal Math is fine (you know, the simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division stuff). It's when you add letters to the numbers that I get lost. I guess I should have said
I Hate Algebra, Math is OK, but Numbers are Fun!
Well, I wanted to keep the title short, sweet, and simple. I am trying to communicate more effectively and I don't always achieve the result I was looking for. I am a work in progress and this blog is part of my homework. It will not be perfect in grammar and sentence structure. I'm more concerned with getting my thought across than proper sentence structure. Teachers (or just REALLY smart people in the Language Arts category), will possibly miss my message because they are wrapped up in the comma I didn't use or punctuation mark in the wrong context. (I'm actually pretty sure there is something wrong with that last sentence. I don't have time to get out the "Writing Handbook" and find it and fix it though.)
Here's the deal. As you read my blog, just pretend you are listening to me talk. Picture me in front of you, just having a conversation. IF you were hearing this, and not reading it, you would catch the little innuendos and analogies that will be scattered about. THAT is what matters in the message. You wouldn't even know if I used a comma or semi colon. Don't get me wrong. I think it is VERY important to use proper English if you are writing for a living (or an audience). Since I don't actually get paid to write my blog, I am taking a little liberty in that department-HA! I'm not intentionally trying to rip off my audience and give them a "less than" product. I just want them to hear the THOUGHT and not lose focus because of the rough draft style it is presented in.
I did not make any New Years Resolutions this year. I figured, what's the point. Why waste time THINKING of things I should do and have no intention of ACTING on. My brain is already so full of things I want to do and need to do that there is no room left over for the "Things I SHOULD do" category. One of the things I want to do is write shorter blog posts. I know that we are all very busy and have little to no time for leisurely reading of someone else's thoughts. I really like sharing mine with you and hope you like hearing them. Because I am considerate and put others first, I am not going to keep you here long. You have a job to do, kids to watch, school to attend or a nap to take. As I write about how I want to keep my blog posts short, I realize that I haven't even said what I intended to when I wrote the title for this one.
GREAT. I've already failed on THAT item and it's the FIRST FRIDAY OF THE YEAR! Because I am that annoying person that can turn ANY negative into a positive, I will say this. I can only get better as the days go by. My failure today will be my success tomorrow. There were a few points I wanted to make in this message but they will have to wait. I will close today with a couple examples on the chalkboard. It is actually a Dry Erase Board but chalkboard sounds more classroom/school ISH. I KNOW, that is so NOT correct on so many levels. My goal is to get you to see the world through my EYES, not your English book! Take off your "Proper English" glasses and put on your "Who Cares about Grammar" hat instead. Let's laugh and learn together.
