TraBloPhotant: A travel addict that takes their passion and turns it into a career. Travel blogger, photographer, consultant. Tra Blo Pho Tant= Trablophotant.
Why would I do this, you ask? Here are TTs Top 5 reasons for making up a job title:
1. I like Sesame Street and Avenue Q - having purpose and explaining it in kindergarten terms makes me happy.
2. I like to make up words, it makes me feel smart.
3. I like elephants and this word reminds me of them.
4. I’m almost 50 so I need to play word games to keep my brain healthy.
5. In a world of growing travel media specialists, I needed to set myself apart and show my uniqueness.
In keeping with the serious and professional side of my career, I decided I also need a mission statement and core values to define myself a little more clearly to my readers and potential sponsors. I was in the military for 20 years and the Girl Scouts and Brownies before that. These organizations have defined purpose, mission, and values and I want to be as successful as them so I need them too! I learned a LOT of valuable lessons from both of them and they helped me to become the person I am today. After careful contemplation, here are my mission statement and core values:
To travel to and explore new destinations to share with my readers in order to inspire them to do the same.
To always have a Joyful Journey
To learn everyday and share that knowledge
Sincerity in Everything
To live large while spending little
Integrity first and ALWAYS
Provide useful information for travel planning
Passionate and Professional
Inspire EVERYONE to travel
New friends along the way
I am getting ready to attend my first TBEX conference. TBEX=Travel Blog Exchange. It is a community of travel media professionals that holds annual conferences in North America and Europe once a year. They do lots of other stuff to support us as well, but the conference is huge! It is in Toronto this year and is actually the reason I FINALLY started my website in order to “be what I want to be when I grow up”. I turn 50 this year and have lived a passionate life of travel my entire life. Toronto has been on my list of must see places and when I saw the conference was there I decided right then, the time is NOW! So on Feb 21st, I launched my website, joined the twitter world and registered for the conference. I have been waiting my whole life to have this job so there is no time to waste. I will be meeting other travel bloggers and photographers as well as attending breakout sessions, tours, workshops and networking with industry sponsors. It is truly an “All inclusive” event. I am doing my best to be prepared and present my best self in order to launch my business into the sky! So all you sponsors and attendees, get ready for TT, she’s a VERY passionate TRABLOPHOTANT!
