Two days ago I was sitting at home working on my computer and a Golden Opportunity literally flashed before my eyes. I am retired from the Air Force and one of my favorite benefits is our Space A system. It is where you can fly on a Space Available basis on missions with empty seats. There is never a guarantee that the flight will actually go or that you will get a seat. You have to be VERY flexible and willing to fly by the seat of your pants (almost literally). The next thing you need to do is have a FIRM Plan B and Plan C (for when "A" falls through--which it usually does). I don't mind having alternate plans because I know for a fact, they usually end up being WAY better than the original plan. You know, the one I thought up. In this case, I wasn't planning on traveling until the weekend. I was planning to take some stuff up to my daughter in Dallas and have a short visit with her. I had all week to work at home (and really needed to focus on some "non work" projects in the house).
For fun I decided to see if there were any hops (thats what the Space A flights are called) from Fort Worth JRB that maybe I could take. I was feeling a bit adventurous when I should have been feeling domestic. Anyway, I just hopped on over to the Facebook page to check flights. THIS is what I saw:
Since I have never been one to let Mr. "WHAT IF" rule my world, my only concern was WHERE I wanted to go! My biggest decision on Monday was "Do I want to spend a couple days in either Rota, Spain or Sicily OR do I want to go back to Beautiful Bermuda and spend 3 whole days and FINALLY write the feature I have promised a friend for her website."
I know, TOUGH DAY AT THE OFFICE! My Boss basically asked me if I would be willing to go out of town for an assignment. Did he even have to ask?!?!
I knew the flight might get cancelled. I also knew that the likelihood of my RETURN trip getting changed or cancelled was pretty high. Since I don't put my trust in the World and gambling, I had FAITH that my BOSS was going to take care of it ALL.
HOLY COW, I am going to BERMUDA!
So, why not join me in this adventure. I am in Bermuda working till Saturday afternoon (or longer if my "ride" cancels out on me). I am going to be all over Facebook, twitter, instagram and maybe even youtube living out my Samantha Brown of the Travel Channel dream. You should TOTALLY come with me! I promise there will be a lot of
