I was greeted at the gate by Carol, like Christmas. That is actually how she introduced herself to me.
Hi, I'm Carol, like Christmas.
I knew right then, I was home! They happened to have 1 room available and I said I would love it and TAKE IT (sight unseen). I just needed a bed and bathroom for 2 days so I honestly would have been happy sleeping on their couch! This trip was already producing LOTS of features and I knew I just added another one to the growing list.
From Homeless to Home in just One Moment
The title for a post was already swimming around in my head. I was really loving the things that were happening on this spur of the moment, don't worry about the "What ifs" and just focus on the HOLY COWS trip! The adventure aspect of it was fueling me like coffee. I was so excited that my heart rate was in a constant state of TRZ (target heart rate zone--the one you want for aerobic activity to actually count). Since I don't actually participate in a formal exercise plan, the coffee analogy works best for ME.
Here's a little slideshow/gallery of my room and the BEAUTIFUL home and grounds of Granaway Bed and Breakfast:
If you want to book your stay at this Wonderful B and B in Bermuda, you can click on Granaway Bed and Breakfast. They are also on Tripadvisor and BermudaRentals. The following description is taken from the Bermuda Rentals website:
Romantic, elegant, and historic. Experience the Bermuda of yesterday with all the comforts of today. Lovely Granaway was built in 1734 and used as a place to store the privateers ill-gotten gains. Now a charming Bed & Breakfast the old cedar beams still show but there are now modern conveniences such as private bathrooms and air conditioning or heat in all rooms. The main house has five guest rooms. A continental breakfast of freshly baked muffins and fresh fruit is served daily with antique silver and Herend china on Bermuda cedar trays.
For added privacy, stay in “Granaway Cottage”, next to the main house. This former slave quarters has also been updated with bathroom and full kitchen and boasts beautiful hand-painted Italian floor tiles, a fireplace for cozy evenings in the winter, and air-conditioning for the summer. There is a private patio overlooking the “Deep” and the city of Hamilton, a mile to the East across Hamilton Harbour.
Relax or enjoy your breakfast in the luxurious garden at the back of the house. The elegant swimming pool is surrounded by lush tropical foliage where one may be lulled by the sounds of the fountain. There is also a waterside patio and swimming area excellent for an early morning dip, snorkelling and barbequing and stargazing. This is a great place to sit at the end of the day and enjoy the sun as it sets gloriously over the Somerset shoreline.
The ferry into Hamilton is within reach by a short walk along Harbour Road. Granaway is also convenient to the Middle Road bus routes. The central location enables guests to travel to the South Shore beaches in 5-10 minutes by moped or taxi or an enjoyable 30-45 minute walk, part of which is along Bermuda’s scenic railway trail and picturesque Tribe roads.
